Children and Young People Counselling

HOW CAN COUNSELLING HELP MY CHILD?
It's not easy being a child these days, whether your child is overwhelmed by anxiety due to school pressure, family breakdown or what they are seeing and hearing in the news or have had personal experiences which have been traumatic, counselling can help each child process their thoughts and feelings in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. This is often the key to freeing them up to move forward in a positive manner, enabling them to enjoy and thrive at home, at school and in their communities.

I am an integrative practitioner who believes that every child and young person is unique. I am trained in Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Play Therapy and mine is a child centred approach, using not only verbal communication but play, drama and creative materials to work with children and young people.

I work from bright, inviting therapy rooms full of materials in order to offer children and young people the secure and safe environment within which to explore their feelings and thoughts. When professionally explored, this is often the key to enable them to process and move forward positively.

With older children and young people, who sometimes have a specific issue or goal which they wish to explore and try to resolve, I use Solution Based Therapy and Narrative Therapy to work with them to find personal and realistic ways to move forward.

My experience enables me to provide a warm, confidential and supportive approach in order to help children and young people work through difficulties such as:
  • Anxiety
  • Anger
  • Withdrawn behaviour
  • Family Breakdown
  • Difficulties with relationship with parents, siblings, peers etc
  • Bullying
  • Bereavement
  • Low self-esteem
  • Risk of exclusion

HOW I WORK
Once you have contacted me, we can arrange an initial consultation, where I would meet with you and your child. This enables me to meet you, gain an understanding of your concerns and gives us all an opportunity to see whether we would like to work together.

I work from my therapy room in my home near Pewsey and/or can also provide sessions in school, subject to the school's agreement.

FEES
I offer an initial free telephone consultation, of around 20 minutes and thereafter, each 50 minute session is 60 pounds. If we agree to continue then the next session is payable in advance.
