HOW CAN COUNSELLING HELP?
Life can be hard. We all need some support at different times in our lives.
Through counselling I can support you in sharing your concerns which may be distressing, confusing and overwhelming and which may be difficult to share with friends and family. Whilst talking to friends and family can be helpful, sometimes it can also be extremely beneficial to talk to someone who can support you objectively, someone who will listen to you without seeking to judge, give advice or criticise.
I have found that being a mother to 3 children, a former family solicitor and a qualified Parenting Instructor, helps me work effectively with overwhelmed parents
As a Person-Centred Counsellor, I believe that each person has the capacity inside them to improve their life and that, as your Counsellor, I am there to work with you so that you can unlock your personal resources, and be with you on your journey to personal growth. I do this by providing you with a confidential, safe and supportive environment where you are accepted for who you really are, thus allowing you to find your own personally meaningful answers.
I am also trained in Solution Based Therapy, which I find complements my person-centred approach. It means that I can offer, not only the empathy, unconditional positive regard and a genuine desire to accept you fully as you are but also, I can work with you to find solutions and develop opportunities if you are feeling trapped and can't see a way to move forward.
In turn, my training in Narrative Therapy allows me to offer you another way of exploring the difficulties you are experiencing, by focussing on the dominant stories that you have formed in your life, which can sometimes have a negative effect on the way you live your life and inviting you to challenge and re-author your stories.
I am able to call on these approaches individually or in tandem depending on what your needs are, in order to support you in your journey towards greater self-awareness and self-worth.
Some people find that they only need a few sessions to get what they are looking for whilst others find that they need a little longer or wish to continue the counselling because they want to continue to deepen their understanding of themselves.
My supportive approach enables me to help clients work through difficulties such as:
HOW I WORK
Once you have contacted me, we can arrange an initial consultation, where I would meet with you. This enables me to gain an understanding of your concerns and gives us an opportunity to see whether we would like to work together.
FEES
I offer an initial free telephone consultation, of around 20 minutes and thereafter, each 50 minute session is 60 pounds. If we agree to continue then the next session is payable in advance.
